FREE Download: Guide to Great Music Mixes
This guide was written to help YOU achieve great mixes, whether you are embarking on a career as a top mixing engineer, choosing a mixing engineer for your projects, or evaluating a final mix. This guide focuses on the overall picture - the final mix - and provides tips and overlooked "tools" which can greatly enhance your final mixes. FREE Download (PDF).
Unhappy With Your Mix?
Is your mix muddy, dull, tinny, boomy, wimpy or just generally horrific? Does it lack the clarity expected in today's mixes? Your final mix is the most important step in the recording process. An "industry standard" mix is vital when promoting music in today's music market.
We can help and it's easy. Just send your unprocessed audio tracks in WAVE format to us in Music City USA (Nashville, TN), and we'll do the rest.
Mixing Options and Fees:
- Just the Mix Please (our most popular). You want a pristine mix of your tracks just the way they are without any sound file editing or "tuning" (The best way to go whenever possible).
- Single Song: $200 (USD).
- Album Mix (8 - 12 Songs): $750 (USD)*
- Tuning of Vocal or Instrumental Tracks. If you and your Engineer feel this is necessary, you can easily add this service. Tuning varies greatly from one project to the next. A handful of "flat" notes would cost less than, "I had to let my mother-in-law sing on it, she paid for the recording". Minimum fee for Tuning, $35 (USD).
- Track Editing. Again, this varies greatly per project. Discuss editing needs with your Engineer. Minimum Track Editing fee, $35 (USD).
Consult with Your Engineer: Before we start to mix, you will consult with your Engineer about your project. It is highly recommended to include any instructions or mixing points in writing along with your audio submission. Once your mix is completed, you will receive an MP3 via email. You will consult again with your Engineer for approval or to make any changes.
Final Mix Files You Will Receive:
- Hi-Rez unprocessed Wave File (48kHz, 24bit)
- CD Ready unprocessed Wave File (44.1kHz, 16bit)
- Hi-Rez Wave File processed with WAVES L1** limiter (48kHz, 24bit)
- CD Ready Wave File processed with WAVES L1** limiter (44.1kHz, 16bit)
* Standard Album Mix assumes the songs are of a cohesive nature. Meaning, you want the same basic drum and bass sound, volume, etc. throughout all the recordings. Song collections that vary greatly (like a classical orchestra followed by a metal band) may require additional mixing fees.
** Waves L1 processing simply raises the overall audio level of your track by slightly limiting the peaks in your recording without any coloration of your sound.
